2 is simply a joke, but it is the way the supertrapp is delivered in germany and actually the only way it is legal here :-(
My experiences were that above 7 discs it gets louder but doesn't do much good considering power and torque. I think something between 5 and 7 is ok, 5 I think is a bit better for low rpms and torque, 7 better on high rpms and topend power, and 7 sounds better, not only louder but better (which is of course my personal opinion).
I've settled for 7 discs for now, not too loud to draw any unwanted attention , but loud enough if you WANT to draw attention :-) and it gave me the best results in top speed (so good that I seek a longer final ratio as the little engine revs up to over 6000rpm rather easily, I guess it would rev up to the limiter but I never tried, I want to keep that engine a while)
